Fine Arts Camp Staff

Maggie Rotello Hartford-  Director

This is Maggie's twelfth year with the Saint Mary's Fine Arts Camp. Maggie is excited to be coming back this summer to immerse herself in the fine arts and once again have the chance to get to know the amazing campers that are joining us for the first time or back again for another fun-filled year of camp. Maggie is a ’99 graduate of Saint Mary’s with a BA in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Reading and Junior High Social Studies. She spent nearly ten years teaching Junior High in a local elementary school before choosing to stay home with her three children full time. She now is the owner/director of a local preschool. Maggie cannot wait to drive down the Avenue this July and spend three weeks on the beautiful Saint Mary’s campus. Each summer, she looks forward to seeing what the campers create and always leaves with a sense of awe at what the ladies are able to accomplish in just one week. 

Cathy Tadey- Assistant Director

Cathy can't wait to return to Saint Mary's Camps for her eleventh summer this year. Cathy has been involved with camp as a music instructor in Fine Arts and as the Assistant Camps Director. Cathy is currently the band director at Minooka Intermediate School in Minooka, Illinois where she teaches fifth and sixth grade students. Cathy is also a teacher for TAP Adventures, a travel abroad program for students age 14-18. This summer they will travel to France and The BENELUX countries of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg where they will experience the culture, the food, and the history of each country and its people. In addition to teaching and traveling, Cathy also enjoys performing with the South Bend Chamber Singers, hiking, and visiting her family back home in North Carolina.

Sarah McKevitt- Night Supervisor

Sarah McKevitt-   Sarah is excited to be back for her third summer at fine arts camp and in the new role as Night time Supervisor. She will be a senior next fall, and will be graduating with a degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders with minors in psychology and music. Coming from Orland Park, Illinois, she feels incredibly fortunate to call Saint Mary's College Home. The College has given her so many opportunities, such as Women's Choir, serving as a Pastoral Music Leader with Campus Ministry, and this Spring, she will be in Saint Mary's production of Chicago where she will be playing Velma Kelly. Other organizations she is a part of is National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and serving as a committee member for Dance Marathon. In her free time, she enjoys eating sushi, running, watching Disney movies, and being a part of the greatest camp on earth

Catherine Coggeshall- Camps Clerk

Hello everyone! My name is Catherine Coggeshall and I am going to be a senior in the fall at Saint Mary's College. I will be graduating with a degree in Elementary Education with a Mild Intervention Licensure and a minor in sociology. I am absolutely in love with this college and all the opportunities it has presented to me. Currently at SMC, I am taking part in Big Belle Little Belle, am a committee member of the Belles for Life Club, am a member of the Education Club and take part in community service. I grew up in Richmond, Virginia with my two brothers and two dogs. I love being outside, playing sports, and being with my friends. This is my first time staying in South Bend over the summer and cannot wait to see what it has in store for all of us!


Meghan Barnauskas-  Creative Writing


Meghan is thrilled to be returning for her fifth year at camp! She has been a counselor for the past three years and is looking forward to coming back for her second year  as the Creative Writing Instructor. Meghan graduated from Saint Mary's in 2014 with majors in elementary education and mathematics as well as a minor in Spanish. Currently, she is finishing up her first year as a sixth grade teacher at Emmons Elementary School in Mishawaka. She absolutely loves Fine Arts Camp and Saint Mary's, and she cannot wait to see what fantastic projects the talented campers create this year!

Dee Dee Batteast- Theatre

Dee Dee Batteast is pleased to be returning to camps as the Theatre Instructor, a position she held in 2014 and 2011. She has also served the Creative Writing Instructor and as a counselor. 

Dee Dee currently teaches courses for Ball Stat’s BFA program in beginning acting, audition, one-person show, and Shakespeare, as well as coaching Ball State’s professional showcases in Chicago and New York. She is also a proud alum of Ball State’s undergraduate program (07’).  Dee Dee is the faculty advisor of the Ethnic Theatre Alliance (ETA), a multicultural alliance group formed by Ball State’s theatre students. 

Dee Dee received her MFA in acting from UNC-Chapel Hill where she spent 3 years as a company member at PlayMakers Repertory Theatre.  

Michele Kriner - Dance

During the school year, Michele is a dance instructor at Saint Mary’s College and Clay High School for the Visual and Performing Arts. In the summer, she teaches at Southold Dance Theatre and choreographs the South Bend Summerfly musical- last year,  she choreographed Mary Poppins.  This summer, she will be the choreographer for The Little Mermaid!  Michele’s favorite things about camp are watching the awesome Friday performances, wearing camp t-shirts, and teaching everyone how fun dancing can be!

Laura Miller Scott- Music

Mrs. Laura (Miller) Scott, born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, is a 2008 graduate of Saint Mary’s College, with a degree in Music Education. She currently teaches choir for Penn Harris Madison Schools. Within the past two years, Laura was married, and was blessed with her first child, a daughter, who will turn one this summer. She also works with a local theater company, “The Main Stage, Inc.” where she is the Music Director, as well as an occasional performer. One of Laura’s passions is performing, and she strives to teach all of her students to appreciate and love the art of performing, on stage, and in everyday life. She is very excited to return to the Fine Arts Camp, and bring her passion for performing so many young campers!

Molly White- Art Instructor

Molly has been a Fine Arts camper, counselor, night supervisor, assistant director, and this year will be her fourth as an art instructor. Molly graduated from Saint Mary's in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in ceramics. After eight years of working in museum fundraising, Molly is going back to school to teach full time. She is attending IUPUI to become certified in K-12 art education. In her down time, Molly paints and creates as much art as possible, with hopes to write and illustrate a children's book some day! Molly can't wait to see what this year of camp will bring!

Chelsea Young - Art Instructor

Chelsea Young is currently pursuing her MFA from Michigan State University in Printmaking. She graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art from Saint Mary's College (2013). She has exhibited throughout the Midwest and was recently invited to be an artist in residence at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy this past summer. She also works with the preparator team at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum in East Lansing, MI to help install amazing art exhibitions. She has worked at Saint Mary's in some capacity over the past several summers and cannot wait to return as a Fine Arts Camp instructor! 


Taylor Belcik-   My name is Taylor Belcik and I am going to be a senior at Saint Mary's in the fall. I am a business administration major with a concentration in accounting and marketing with a minor in mathematics. I grew up on the south side of Chicago with my 4 siblings and 2 dogs. I love singing, dancing, and playing piano in my spare time. I was a camper with Fine Arts for 5 years and now this is my second year as fine arts counselor! My favorite part of camp is getting to know each of the campers individually and helping them to explore their creativity during their performance classes, and watching them create lasting friendships with girls from all different places and from all different backgrounds. I am so excited to meet all the new campers this summer and can't wait to connect again with returning campers!
Taylor Ellerbrock - I am a returning camp counselor and a double major in Communicative Sciences & Disorders and Psychology.  This fall, I will be attending graduate school to pursue my degree in Speech Language Pathology.  I am originally from Toledo, Ohio. Last summer was an amazing experience for me and all the campers. I have played piano for 17 years and love anything "arts and crafts." This year I can't wait to meet and impact all the new and returning campers! My favorite food is HOT SAUCE!
Lauren Faso-  Hi campers!  I am a junior and a Communicative Sciences and Disorders major with the hopes of becoming a Speech- Language Pathologist.  I was born and raised in Homewood, IL,  and my favorite movie to this day is The Sound of Music. I am 100% Italian, so it is only natural that my two favorite foods are pizza and pasta!  I am extremely excited to be a part of the Fine Arts camp this summer because ever since I was a little girl I have always loved the arts, so, I am really looking forward to making the camp an experience for the girls that they will never forget.  

Lydia Lorenc- I will be a junior at Saint Mary’s, majoring in Integrative Biology. Hailing from South Bend, Indiana, I can’t wait to share my beautiful second home with you. This will be my second year as a counselor, and I am so excited to be back! Being involved in all areas fine arts has always been one of my greatest interests. Since beginning college, I have remained involved in the Dance Company of Notre Dame and continue to play the piano. After a semester studying abroad in Ireland, I cannot wait to return to Saint Mary’s as a counselor for Fine Arts Camp!
Marie Mastellone- Hi everyone! I am a rising senior at Saint Mary’s College. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I am an Elementary Education major with two minors in Reading and Sociology. Saint Mary’s holds a special place in my heart because it has allowed me to pursue my passions while meeting my best friends.  I am a member of the SMC Cheerleading Squad and I also play the French horn in the Notre Dame Marching Band. I love tea and also have a huge sweet tooth. I am very excited to share my love for music, writing, and creativity with the talented campers of the Saint Mary’s Fine Arts Camp this summer!

Josie Meiss- I'm a sophomore dance major at Ball State University and I'm originally from Mishawaka, IN.  At the age of eleven, I attended the Saint Mary's Fine Arts Camp for the first time, and after having such a great experience, decided to come back the following three summers until I was too old to return.  My favorite childhood movie is Bambi, and my favorite food is pizza. I'm looking forward to camps this summer because I loved them so much. She is so thrilled that she finally has the opportunity to share her love of camp with everyone attending this year.
Rachel Moore-- Hi!  I am originally from Davenport, Iowa. I will graduate Saint Mary’s College in 2018 with a major in accounting and a concentration in finance. Saint Mary’s holds a special place in my heart because of the sisterhood that I have formed with all of my classmates and because Saint Mary’s has brought me much closer to my mother, as I am a legacy and we now share our never-ending love for Saint Mary’s. My favorite movie is the Lion King. My favorite food is pizza. I am looking forward to camp, because I am excited to form new friendships and to share all of the reasons why I love Saint Mary’s College with others.
Nora Napleton- Hello!  I am a first year student from LaGrange, IL. I am a current Nursing major at Saint Mary’s! My favorite childhood movie is The Lion King and my favorite food is spaghetti. I love Saint Mary’s because of its strong sense of community. There is a sisterhood between all of the young women here who are constantly encouraging and supporting me. I am looking forward to camp to make some new friends and participate in fun activities and crafts! I am so excited to make this a great summer at Saint Mary’s Fine Arts Camp!!
Haley Shaw- Hi campers!  I am a Religious Studies major from South Bend and I'm excited to share my home with you all! Saint Mary's is such an incredible place! Everyone here is so welcoming and friendly.  I could probably eat chicken fingers for every meal and my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. I remember when I was a kid I would tell people that I wanted to be Belle when I grow up! I am so looking forward to meeting you all at camp this year! Saint Mary's is like a family and we would love to make you a part of that family during your week at camp.

Halee Sikorski -  I am from Monmouth, Illinois and this fall I will be a senior at Saint Mary's College where I am majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Reading Assessment. I'm so grateful I chose Saint Mary's because there are many people here who want to support you and help you become the best person you can be. The beautiful campus is just an added bonus. This will be my second summer at camp and I am so excited to be back! I'm already looking forward to counselor follies.
