Support Services



Building Services will assist with chair and table set up before the event. They will also be on hand following the event to return the space to the original configuration. Building Services is also the office that provides cleaning and facility support throughout the year.

Cost Alert: When Building Services team members are required to be on hand outside normal work hours, overtime costs may be applied to the event. They typically provide event support from 6:00 a.m-3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Sodexo is the exclusive food provider on campus.   They offer a variety of food services for events, ranging from casual catering (most economical) to a served meal. They also offer buffet service,  snacks, hospitality and pizza.  The SMC Food Policy will address any concerns regarding food on campus.  

Cost Alert:  Any event requesting food must be made through Sodexo and they will be pleased to provide price quotes.  Please call Catering at 574-284-5345

 

Tech Services will extend support in sound and lighting systems for events that require support.  Basic sound systems may be requested by event organizers. Performance spaces such as Carroll Auditorium, The Little Theatre and O'Laughlin require the use of technicians for liability purposes.  

Cost Alert:  Events that require technical personnel will incur cost, particularly for events scheduled in performance spaces.  Technical personnel have a three hour minimum charge.  For specific costs, please contact Campus and Community Events. 


Media Services manages audio visual set-up and support through the Department of Information Technology.  Service includes data projectors, computers, recording and screens.  Support may be limited on the weekends and in the evenings.  But if you encounter a problem and need assistance, please contact the Help Desk at 574-284-4715.

Security will lock and unlock rooms for events and can provide parking assistance.  Saint Mary's  Security Department is staffed 24 hours a day throughout the year.  Any safety concern should be addressed to Security and they can be reached at 574-284-5000.

Cost Alert:
If additional officer are required for assistance or protection during an event, costs will be passed to the client.

Maintenance- outdoor events requiring electricity will need the assistance of our Maintenance department.  They also offer help regarding facility damage, heating and ventilation, grounds and equipment safety.   They provide support from 6:00 a.m-3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
